How to Draw a Taco — Let's get started!
Step 1
Start by drawing a full downward curve that looks like the upper half of a circle. This forms the front part of the taco shell.
As you can see in the illustration, the curve is a bit off-center as it is slightly leaning more on the right side.
Don't worry as this is how it should really be! This ensures that there's sufficient space for the taco shell at the back as well as the fillings inside.
Step 2 — Create the Shell of the Taco
Beginning from the right endpoint of the curve, draw a horizontal line at the bottom enclosing the shape of the taco shell.
Then, bring the line upwards to form another curve until it touches the first curve we drew previously. This creates the back shell, thus completing the form of the taco shell.
Afterwards, draw an upward curved line from the left endpoint of the curve we drew in the previous step. This creates a division between the back and the front taco shell.
Step 3 — Add the Fillings of the Taco
Draw a wavy line inside the taco shell. Keep in mind that this line should be in between the back and the front taco shell.
This creates the edges of the lettuce.
Step 4 — Add Ground Meat on the Taco
Draw a shorter wavy line right beside the taco. This creates the appearance of ground meat filling.
It can be chicken, pork, or beef—or perhaps a tofu if you like it vegan! Remember, the sky's the limit to your imagination! You can make it whichever you want it to be.
Step 5 — Add a Bunch of Grated Cheese
You can never have too much cheese on a taco! As a matter of fact, the cheese is one of the main ingredients of a taco filling.
A good taco wouldn't be complete without a lot of cheese, especially if they're melted and oozing! So yummy!
So, in this step, we'll be adding heaps of cheese! Simply draw a scalloped line forming a curve right beside the last filling we drew in the previous step. This creates the appearance of cheese inside the taco shell!
Step 6 — Add a Piece of Sliced Tomato
Draw a small curved shape right beside the cheese.
This forms a slice of tomato. You can add as many or as few slices of tomato as you like!
Step 7 — Add a Piece of Sliced Cucumber
Draw another small curved shape above the tomato. This creates a slice of cucumber.
Step 8 — Afterwards, Add More Lettuce
Now, complete the fillings of the taco by drawing another wavy line. This creates the final layer of lettuce.
As you can see in the illustration, we've kept the fillings of the taco simple. It has a few tomatoes, cucumbers, green leafy vegetables, and ground meat.
Feel free to add customizations on the taco. You can add some sauces or an extra filling if you like! It's all up to you—after all, it's your taco and your work of art!
Step 9 — Draw the Patterns of the Shell
Taco shells typically have distinct round patterns all over its surface, so that's exactly what we'll be drawing in this step.
Draw multiple circle shapes in various sizes all over the surface of the taco shell. This adds texture on the taco shell, making it look more realistic!
As you can see in the illustration, the taco has finally come together and it already looks so appetizing! Now, all it's missing is a splash of colors to make it colorful!
Now that we've successfully drawn a taco, it's finally time for the most exciting part. In this step, we'll be coloring the taco!
Traditionally, taco shells are either cream or golden-yellow in color. Nowadays, however, it now comes in a wide range of vibrant colors such as green, red, and violet.
This gives you a lot of color options to choose from when coloring the taco shell.
For the fillings of the taco, we all know that the lettuce is green, the meat is brown, the cheese is pale yellow, the cucumber is light green, and the tomato is red.
You can opt to color the taco shell and its fillings using their original colors or use a unique set of colors. Either way, we're sure the colors we'll turn out perfectly!
